Brief History:
Jordan Baker was born into wealth, not having to worry about much of anything. Shuffled into private schools, she early on showed a talent for golf which she turned into becoming a professional golfer while she continued her schooling. She entertained many suitors in these years, but nothing so serious.
She is a compulsive liar, having once gotten into trouble for moving the ball during a golf game. She comes off as so haughty that Nick Carraway first describes himself as wanting to apologize for intruding when he first met her. The summer she spent out East was eventful, she had a serious relationship with Nick Carraway, and was wrapped into a situation with her friend Daisy, Daisy's husband Tom, and Jay Gatsby.
She and Nick encouraged Daisy to rekindle her relationship with Gatsby, but it only ended in the deaths of Gatsby, Tom's mistress Myrtle Wilson and Myrtle's husband. Daisy and Tom continued on normally, they were, after all, careless people, and it ruined Jordan and Nick's relationship. He couldn't handle the East. Jordan surprised even herself by how broken up she was about the relationship, as it were, she prided herself on being detached emotionally and fairly careless herself.
She planned to get over Nick in style as she returned to school and golf, but somehow found herself in 2010, at a college in Kansas (ugh, Kansas). She predictably inflated her qualifications to gain employment as a golf coach at the University, despite the fact that having to be employed is a total drag.
